HYPNOGOGIA and other hallucinations<\/p>\n

Hallucinatory imagery is so associated with 1960\u2019s psychedelia that it\u2019s now hard to separate the trip from the reality. But hallucinations are actually something we all experience as part of everyday life.<\/p>\n

Over the past year, Amina McConvell has been exploring the phenomena of visual hallucination from a range of different perspectives, from Neuroscience to spiritualist \u2018Vision Quests\u2019; from the Russian Structuralist movement to the aesthetics of psychedelia; from 1980\u2019s video games to 2000\u2019s screen savers.<\/p>\n

In this presentation of her research, McConvell nods to all of these influences; the kitschy and the minimal, the out-there and the scientific, the retro and the futurist.<\/p>\n

Amina McCovell is an emerging artist based in Darwin, Australia. The work produced during her one month residency at Krack! includes two large scale floor and wall murals, screen prints on wood and 3D elements. This work in progress will be exhibited in its completed state in Sydney later in the year.<\/p>\n

HYPNOGOGIA and other hallucinations<\/p>\n

Gambar gambar halusinasi biasanya dihubungunkan dengan gaya psikedelik 1960an, jadi sekarang sulit untuk melepaskan trip dari realitas. Tetapi, halusinasi sebenarnya sesuatu yang dialami oleh kita semua.<\/p>\n

Sejak tahun lalu, Amina McCovell telah menjelajahi fenomena hallusinasi visual dari berbagai perspektif; dari Neuroscience atau ilmu waskita; Minimalisme Rusia 1920an atau estetika Psikedelik; mainan video 1980an ke screensaver 2000an. Dalam presentasi penelitiannya, McConvell mengakui semua pengaruhnya \u2013 yang kitsch dan yang minimalis, yang aneh dan yang ilmiah, yang retro dan yang futuris.<\/p>\n

Amina McCovell adalah seniman muda yang berasal dari Darwin, Australia.
